We received some exciting news recently at VitalChurch Ministry—our organization was officially granted nonprofit status by the IRS! It’s been a long process—with lots of paperwork and even more waiting—and it feels great to be on the other side of it all!
Previously, VitalChurch was operating under the umbrella of Church Resource Ministries (CRM), a Christian nonprofit dedicated to reaching the lost, bringing about lasting transformation among the poor, and mobilizing the Church for mission. CRM provided us with an incredible amount of support for our work in interim pastoring and church diagnostics for more than 20 years. We are beyond grateful for everything we were able to accomplish together for the Kingdom of God, and for their blessing as we venture out as our own, independent organization.
It was in 2014 that we began the process of becoming independent of CRM. The four pastors who were a part of VitalChurch at that time (back when it was called reTURN) gathered together to pray and seek God’s will for the ministry. They asked God if they should continue as the high-functioning team that they were, under the ministry of CRM, or if He was calling them to expand the organization by identifying, training, and equipping more interim pastors—including the next generation to carry on the ministry into the future. After much prayer, and with the encouragement and support of other Christian leaders, it was clear that God was leading the group toward the latter.
In 2015, a Director of Operations was hired (who has since been promoted to Executive Director) to help shore up the infrastructure of the ministry and begin the process of creating an independent ministry. Shortly thereafter, our ministry was rebranded and changed its name from reTURN to VitalChurch Ministry, Inc. We tightened up our vision, our ministry outcomes, as well as our model of ministry.
Since then, the number of interim pastors employed by VitalChurch has doubled, allowing us to minister to more churches around the globe. Our support staff and volunteer base have also grown as our ministry has expanded. And just this May, we held a training for additional ministry leaders who will join our team and help bring the ministry to the next generation of churches.
We are excited for all of the changes that have already come about as a result of seeking and following God’s will for this ministry and look forward to what He has in store for it in the future!
If you are interested in joining our growing team, or if you know of a church that could benefit from our unique church revitalization process, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you!
