With headquarters in California, and several of our interim pastors using the state as their home base, we find ourselves doing a lot of work in California churches. If you know anything about the state, you could probably conclude that there are a diverse set of churches in California—and you’d be right! You’ll find traditional, denominational churches, non-denominational community churches, megachurches, and just about any other type of church you can think of.
Experienced Intentional Interim Pastors for California Churches of all Types
Fortunately, at VitalChurch we have a team of interim pastors who have experience working in all types of churches and can provide solid leadership and biblical guidance no matter what your church is going through.
Recently, we placed interim pastors at two California churches—one in Temecula and one in Torrance. Both churches found themselves without a senior pastor rather unexpectedly, and realized quickly that they needed help. Not only did they need someone who could preach consistently on Sunday mornings, but they needed someone who could help “right the ship.” Both California churches had experienced key staff losses (in addition to the senior pastor) and needed help in the pastoral search process. Our interim pastors came alongside these churches and walked with them through the process of selecting and transitioning to a new pastor.
One of the things that makes VitalChurch’s interim pastors different from many other interim pastors is that they are agents of change. They aren’t just there to “stop the bleeding” in a crisis situation, but also to help with any healing that needs to take place within the church. This allows the next senior pastor to arrive at an already healthy church that’s ready for their next phase of ministry. In congregations that have experienced some conflict, VitalChurch helps bring about true reconciliation. In churches that have simply lost their way or grown stagnant, our intentional interim pastors can help bring them back to Jesus and give them a renewed vision for their ministry.
Church Health Assessments for California Congregations
In addition to providing interim pastors for California churches, we’ve also conducted church health assessments, which we call our diagnostic analysis, in multiple churches in California. These assessments are meant to dig deep and find out what churches are doing well, and where there is room for improvement.
We require any church that wants to hire one of our interim pastors to complete our diagnostic analysis. However, these assessments aren’t just for churches in transition or crisis—any church that wants an accurate understanding of its current state can benefit from this in-depth analysis. It can give you insight into your church’s demographics, as well as things like quality of fellowship, trust in leadership, connectivity, and the basic doctrinal knowledge of your congregation. If you’ve never had a church assessment done, or if you haven’t had one done recently, you might be surprised what is uncovered.
If your California church is in a state of transition or crisis and in need of an intentional interim pastor, or if you’d like to find out more about our church health assessments, please contact us for more information. We’d love to learn more about your church and how we can help it become a more vibrant, fruitful place.
